Bicarbonate of soda (also commonly known as sodium bicarbonate) is a fine powder widely used as a leavening agent, aerating agent, or alkalizing agent. The taste of bicarbonate of soda is slightly alkaline and it has no aroma. 

Uses

Use it in breads and cakes to help them rise or to make your own honeycomb. Also used in many homemade cleaning products or to absorb odors in the fridge or cupboard.
