About Millet
It contains lots of nourishing plant-based goodness, including protein and dietary fibre. It is one of the oldest foods known to man. Originating in Africa and the Indian subcontinent thousands of years ago, it is widely grown as a cereal crop. The nutty, slightly sweet taste and light, fluffy texture of this organic hulled millet make it a versatile grain in both sweet and savory recipes.
Uses for Millet
Bring three cups of water to a boil with a cup of hulled millet. When the millet boils, reduce the heat and simmer covered for 20-25 minutes. To serve, drain well and fluff with a fork. In addition to breakfast bowls and salads, millet is delicious in soups and stir-fries, and as a grain accompaniment to all your savoury meals. Any sweet or savoury recipe that uses rice or quinoa can be substituted with millet, including stir-fries, veggie patties, cakes and muffins.
