About Puffed Buckwheat

Buckwheat originated in China thousands of years ago and is a staple of many Asian and European cultures. In Japan, soba noodles are made with it. In France, gallettes and blinis are made with it. Buckwheat is not related to wheat, despite its name. This seed belongs to the same family as rhubarb and sorrel. Buckwheat is a gluten-free food and is an excellent option for people who avoid conventional wheat products. This tiny seed is packed with beneficial antioxidant flavonoids, including rutin, which may help prevent bad cholesterol and heart disease.
