The soy flour product known as textured or texturized vegetable protein is derived from the extraction of soybean oil and is also known as soy meat, soya chunks, or textured soy protein. Many people use it as a meat substitute. Fast to cook and high in protein, it is a good alternative to meat.
Uses
A dehydrated product such as textured soy protein needs to be reconstituted with liquid. Having little taste of its own, it is the perfect vehicle for absorbing all the delicious spices and seasonings you add to your dish. Mix in a passata for spag bol or add hot water and spices to form meatless balls or burger patties.
